Who We Are
Nathaniel, MD
Nate is board-certified in internal medicine, pediatrics, and pediatric hospital medicine. He has completed a year-long fellowship in point-of-care ultrasound. In addition to working at Lebonheur Children's Hospital and Regional One Health, Nate serves as Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Ultrasound for the University.
Anna Joy, MD, DrPH
Anna Joy is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She also has a doctorate in public health. Anna Joy works at Regional One Health and serves as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Research Director of her Department at the University.
Our History
Anna Joy
Anna Joy grew up in Southeast Asia and felt God's calling for her to become a physician for women at the age of 14. She moved to the United States for college at the age of 18 for her premedical studies.
Instead of attending her college graduation, she went on a mission trip with her church to Cambodia! Little did she know that she would one day plan to return as a physician with her family.​​​
Nate
Nate grew up in Germany as the son of two generations of Christian theologians. In addition to speaking German fluently, he majored in Spanish in college, which allowed him to travel to Spain and Guatemala. Nate was also able to learn French on a medical summer trip to Burkina Faso.
Together
Nate and Anna Joy met on the first day of medical school, and the rest is history! In between lectures and flirting, they began dreaming about doing global missions together as a physician couple.

Nate asked Anna Joy on their first date how she felt about adoption, something she had always dreamed about, further cementing their bond.
Our Precious Family
God brought gave us six children, two through adoption and four through childbirth. Each of our children have their own personalities and make our life richer (and crazier)!
