The Need in Cambodia

Cambodia is a beautiful nation in Southeast Asia, neighbored by Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. Fifty years ago, the country experienced the tragedy of genocide. More than 2.5 million men, women, and children were systematically exterminated by a the Khmer Rouge regime. The leader, Pol Pot, declared 1975 to be "Year Zero" where all prior belief systems and societal structures would be reduced to nothing so he could start from scratch.

As the nation has sought to rebuild after defeating the regime, it had to develop a healthcare system from the ground up. While there have been many successes, access to residency-style medical training continues to be in high demand among young doctors who have freshly graduated from medical school.

A Response to the Need

Hospital Overview.webp

Mercy Medical Center Cambodia (MMCC) is a non-profit Mission Training Hospital located south of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, that trains Cambodian Medical School Graduates to become experienced doctors. The hospital believes in partnering with Cambodian churches, non-governmental organizations, and governmental institutions to provide excellent healthcare to the poor and underserved in the name of Christ.

We will be Physicians in Cambodia!

After 11 years of living in Memphis, we have decided that it is finally time to take the plunge and follow our dream of being missionary doctors. We have been invited to join the faculty of MMCC, where we will be helping to train Cambodian resident physicians.

Our Guiding Principles

Facilitating Healing

God is the Healer. As physicians, we have the opportunity to participate in God's healing work, which he uses to restore creation to Himself. Jesus used healing of the physical body to open people's hearts to the gospel.

Sharing Hope

True hope is not found in health, riches, or any human being. We believe that lasting hope is found in a restored relationship with God through Jesus, who heals our souls, giving us hope, life, and joy.

Our Vision:

To see Cambodian physicians trained to facilitate healing and empowered to share the hope of Christ with their own people.

How your support could change lives

One day my grandmother became ill, and I brought her to MMCC. I was touched by how the staff treated their patients with respect and love, just like Jesus does. That inspired me to apply to work as a nurse at MMCC.

Sen S., lead nurse

Throughout my time at MMCC I have been spiritually encouraged by the missionaries, attending doctors, staff, and sometimes by the patients themselves!

Dr. P, resident physician

I am so grateful for the opportunity to share the good news of Jesus through my medical clinic. My training at MMCC was very important for this ministry.
